The Outside View

Let me see
what they see.

One Practice · Fresh Eyes · Online First
Your next patient will probably meet you online first. That's where I start too.
The idea

Sometimes you're simply too close to the business to see it.

You see your practice from the inside every day. You know the staff, the patients, the history and the reasons things are done the way they're done.

I don't. And that's precisely the point. I begin where a prospective patient begins — online — without the history, habits or assumptions. I see what they see, with 53 years of business and optical experience behind the observation.

The landscape changed

There used to be Three O's.
Now there are Four.

For generations, the optical world was largely defined by ophthalmology, optometry and opticianry.

Then another competitor entered the patient's world — one that thinks very differently about how people discover, evaluate and buy eyewear.

Independent optical experience compared with modern online eyewear shopping

Your new competitor may not be better at optics. They may simply be better at getting noticed.

Better websites. Better photography. Better social media. Better storytelling. Easier purchasing. Constant visibility.

Meanwhile, an independent practice can provide extraordinary clinical care and exceptional optical expertise — and still lose attention before the patient ever walks through the door.

Being better at what you do and being better at communicating what you do are two very different things.

Clinical expertise is still your advantage.
But expertise nobody notices isn't much of a marketing strategy.
Built to be remote

Pay for perspective.
Not overhead.

Traditional consulting can start with airfare, hotels, rental cars, meals and travel time. None of that makes the advice better.

The Outside View is online by design. Your patients are already forming opinions about your practice before they walk through the door. I start in the same place they do.

No airfare.
No hotel.
No disruption to your practice.
What I look at

The things your patients see. And a few things you may not.

01

Your Digital Front Door

Website, mobile experience, Google presence, reviews, social media, photography, messaging and online scheduling — the first impression a prospective patient gets before anyone in your office meets them.

02

The Practice Through Their Eyes

A simple phone walkthrough, photos and a few questions let me see the physical practice without turning my visit into an event. Front door, reception, optical, frame boards, signage and flow.

03

Optical & Merchandising

Frame presentation, product mix, visual hierarchy, private-brand opportunity and whether the optical tells a coherent story.

04

Your Competitive Story

What nearby practices and online competitors are communicating, where your practice feels distinctive and where a patient may have trouble understanding why they should choose you.

The observer

I don't need to be in your practice to notice what your patients see.

I search for you the way a new patient might. I visit your website on a phone. I look at your reviews, photography, social presence, messaging and the path to making an appointment.

Then I look inside through the material you share — a simple video walkthrough, photos and our conversation. The goal isn't surveillance. It's perspective.

Your patients form an opinion before they arrive.
So do I.
What I don't need

I don't need to see your books.

I'm not here to value your company, analyze your payroll or tell you how much you're spending on paper clips.

This isn't financial consulting. It's an experienced outside view of the business your patients actually encounter.

No financial audit
No employee surveys
No endless meetings
No 70-page strategic plan
What you receive

The Outside View.

After my review and our conversation, I distill what I saw into a concise, practical briefing.

Not everything I notice deserves your attention. The value is identifying the things that do.

Why this works

Experience creates compression.

I've spent 53 years around optical, sales, product, manufacturing, technology, branding, retail and entrepreneurship.

I don't need weeks in your office to begin seeing patterns I've encountered for decades. The point isn't to spend more time around your business. It's to identify the few things actually worth your attention.

Then what?
I tell you what I see.
What you do with it is up to you.

I may identify a website problem, a merchandising opportunity, a messaging issue or a better way to build your own brand. I can show you examples of what I mean and explain what I would change. But I'm not your web developer or your agency. Teach, don't build. You decide what happens next.

The Investment
$750.
One practice · One Outside View · Flat fee

What would one overlooked problem cost you over the next year?

I'm not going to promise that changing a website headline, improving your optical presentation or clarifying your message will magically produce a specific amount of revenue.

That's not the point.

If I identify one problem that's quietly costing you appointments, optical sales or patient attention — and you fix it — how many times would that problem have repeated over the next year?

You don't need twenty new patients for the investment to make sense. You may only need to stop losing a few you should have had in the first place.
